  Effective January 29, 2007, if you are:
  • a foreign language interpreter or an interpreter for the deaf currently working at any level within the Pennsylvania judicial system;
  • a freelance or contract interpreter working independently or for an agency located either in or outside the state;
  • a full-time or part-time staff interpreter working for a judicial district in Pennsylvania;
  • an interpreter certified in another Consortium member state, by the Administrative Office of the Untied States Courts, or the National Association of Judiciary Interpreters and Translators;
  • or considering becoming an interpreter;
you must register with the Interpreter Certification Program and comply with all certification requirements. This registration requirement applies to all interpreters who wish to work in the Pennsylvania courts.

As of January 1, 2009 all newly registered interpreters must attend an orientation workshop, pass the written examination, and phase one of the oral examination before being eligible to be placed in the roster and allowed to work within the state court system pending the completion of their certification.

Please print and complete the appropriate registration form below and forward it to the program via US mail, FedEx or UPS only. An e-mail acknowledging receipt of your registration will be sent to you after the form is received. After registering you will receive further information about the certification program, training and skill-building opportunities as they become available.

Information Update Form

It is the interpreter’s responsibility to maintain the information on file with the program current. Whenever a change in your circumstances occurs you must notify the program as soon as possible. Use this Information Update Form to notify the ICP of any of the following:

  • Change of address, telephone, e-mail, fax, and other contact information;
  • Add or change your agency affiliation, or the information about agencies you work for;
  • Update your preferences as to how you wish to be listed in the roster and contacted for work assignments;
  • Change or modify your availability for work;
  • Update your educational background information;
  • Update or modify your working languages;
  • Notify us of accreditation or credential changes and updates (sign language interpreters only).
To use the form, click on the link above to download and print the form. You do not have to complete the whole form. Only those sections relevant to the information you wish to update. Please provide all the information requested within the sections you choose to use. Then mail it to the address listed in the form.
